Our visit to St. Petersburg began as a wish of my 84 year old mother’s to see the city’s world renowned museum, the Hermitage. With that wish as the centerpiece of our ideas, three generations of our family, ranging in age from 32 to 84 years old, made plans for an adventure in Russia. We were to discover that St. Petersburg is not only home to the amazing Hermitage, but it is a wonderful city in general. It is a city filled with wonderful sights and sounds, varied architecture, international art collections, delicious food and, fantastic dance and music. Most importantly, it is a city filled with friendly, welcoming people.
As first time visitors to Russia, not speaking the language and, finding the written language a great challenge, we knew we would need assistance to get around and to do all that we wanted to do. We knew that we needed a guide, a guide fluent in English. This is where Tatyana Churikova came into our lives.
Tatyana is a wonderful young woman, filled with seemingly unending energy and creativity. She is the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness. She is both assertive when necessary to get things done yet she shows a gentleness about her when dealing with people of all ages. She obviously loves her city, St. Petersburg, and has great pride when showing it to visitors. Her knowledge of St. Petersburg and Russia in general is outstanding. Her English language skills are all that one would hope for. The tour was very personalized to our wishes and Tatyana made those wishes a reality. We wanted a good amount of free time to simply walk the streets of St. Petersburg and, Tatyana helped facilitate this with suggestions and directions to sights and places to dine. As always with travel, there can be challenges. All I can say is that if one needs a problem solved, Tatyana would be the one on whom to depend. She is bright and resourceful and completely reliable. She knows her city and knows how to get things done.
Tatyana came to us through an arrangement with a Russian-based travel executive. He told me that Tatyana is the best he knows, the guide he uses when his parents visit the country. We are now four more people who echo such a recommendation

(Winter) as well as its small and exquisite ones( Yussopov), its unparalleled world class art collections (from the Hermitage to the Russian),its grand boulevards and little known side streets, and its great eating (from Beef Stroganov in grand restaurants to shashlik in excellent small neighborhood cafes). The list goes on and on. She also has the ability to seek out special and unusual events for her clients to see( e.g. the day that the fountains were turned on at Peterhof) as well as special places which ordinarily permit very limited access ( e.g. the Chinese Palace at Oranienbaum). In May 2005 we traveled to St. Petersburg with a group of friends; Tatyana was our guide. From the minute we met her, we were entranced. Tatyana is extraordinarily well-informed about all aspects of Russian life and thought. She is genuinely curious about both ideas and people, and we immediately connected with her because of her personal warmth and her ability to convey a depth of information about her country. Our guide for our stay there was Tatiana Churikova, who did a wonderful job of showing us the city and its surroundings. We hired Tania Churikova to guide us for two and a half days as a private guide and we had a separate car & driver. It was well worth it.
We can highly recommend Tania for her knowledge and professionalism as well as her kindness and honesty. Her English is excellent.
Tania was dependable, had an excellent presentation in history and art. She is also very capable in trivia.
She set up an itinerary around our interests and time constraints. We saw things and went places where the usual tours do not go.

My wife, another couple and their 20 year old daughter visited St.Petersburg. Tatyana Churikova ( Tania) was our host guide. She was very knowledgeable and charming. In addition to visiting St.Petersburg historic sites, she was very helpful in referring us to restaurants and cultural activities.Tatyana had a good working relationship with the driver and we were always on schedule.None of our party spoke Russian, but Tatyana spoke and understood American English very well.
Before our visit, I took a college course on Russian culture and history, Tania filled in the gaps that the professors omitted.We discussed history, pre and post Soviet history, culture and literature.
From my experience, the St.Petersburg natives have a strong passion for their city.Tatyana is no exception; she exudes and radiates an incredible passion for her beloved City. She brought St.Petersburg to life for me and our group.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to have Tatyana as our guide in St. Petersburg in August of 2005. Tatyana met us at the ship and came promptly with a driver and car. She served as our guide for two days as we toured St. Petersburg and its surroundings. Her English was excellent and her knowledge of the sights and the city made the trip a most interesting time. We found her willing to comply with all of our requests and did not require us to stick to a pre-programmed tour but followed what we wished to see and do. Throughout our time with Tatyana, we found her to be warm and friendly and able to answer all of our questions. She discussed with us many of the things about the people and life in Russia and did not limit herself to only those places we were seeing. Tatyana assisted us in photographing many of the sights by seeing that we were in the best location for photographs and that we were safe from traffic hazards. St. Petersburg is a beautiful and interesting city and Tatyana made it the highlight of our trip. If you have the opportunity to use the services of Tatyana as your guide, you will have made an excellent choice.

Tatyana (who we knew as Tania) was our tour guide for three days in St Petersburg in November 2004. It was our first trip to Russia where we were visiting our 21 year old son who was spending his junior year studying in Russia.
She was the perfect guide who knew how to describe the sights,
explain the history and still answer all of our questions about what it is like to grow up and live in this beautiful and amazing country.
She was both informative and interesting and genuinely seemed to enjoy her work.
We felt like we were being shown the city by a long lost friend rather than someone we just met. In addition to relating well to us as 50 year old tourists, there were many times she and our son laughed and joked around (in Russian so we had no idea what they were saying) but it was obvious they too had developed a good relationship. Tania took us on a city tour of St. Petersburg, as well as the Hermitage, Pushkin and Peterhof tours. She told us where to shop (and what to stay away from) as well as where to eat for which we were very thankful as we did not want to eat at tourist restaurants but rather where she would eat as a local. We talked about politics, social issues and Russian culture while driving to and from the various sights. She was a wonderful, warm and friendly guide who will be the first person we will call should we ever return to St. Petersburg.
